1. The scholarship program is open to all active members in good standing, active retirees, and their children who are either in, or about to enter, an accredited college or trade school. Any applicants who are in high school must be graduating in 2025. 2. The award is a one-time $1000.00 payment to the school designated by the winner which can go towards tuition or other expenses. 3. There are two (2) parts to the application process. The first is an application of interest which is attached with the letter below. Second, once we have received that application and the member has been verified to be in good standing, the applicant will receive the second application, which will require an essay about the applicant. Should you need additional applications, they are available from this office, or you may duplicate one of those sent to you. The return date for the first application is February 18, 2025. The return date for the second application is April 28, 2024. The Local President must verify all first applications, in the space provided before mailing to the Sector Office at NABET-CWA, 501 Third Street NW, 6th Floor, Washington, DC 20001.

REGION TWO:  JAMES P. NOLAN and FRED SABURRO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
 
Amount:  $1000   One Time award.  Once received, winning student is no longer eligible for this Scholarship in future years.
 
Eligibility:  Child or legal ward of an active or retired member in good standing in Region II.   Applicant must be a high school senior or college under-graduate.   Winning applicant must present proof of enrollment in accredited college or university before check is awarded.  Proof shall consist of tuition bill or similar official document confirming enrollment for the upcoming college year.
 
How Chosen:  Simple application similar to current NABET-CWA Scholarship forms.   Forms is available below.   Application will be authenticated by the Local President.   The Award will be chosen by lot by Region II Vice President at the yearly RAB Meeting.   (In the event an RAB meeting is not held that year, Sector Secretary-Treasurer shall draw winner by lot with at least two active NABET-CWA members as witnesses.)   After the winning applicant is drawn, an alternate shall be selected to receive the scholarship in case the first choice is ineligible.

APPLICATION MUST BE RECEIVED BY YOUR LOCAL PRESIDENT NO LATER THAN MARCH 15th 2023.
 
To Locals sending in checks:  When you send your checks in to fund the program, all checks should be made payable to:   "NABET-CWA Scholarship Program."

Union Plus Scholarships -
Application Deadline is: 12:00pm (noon, Eastern Time), Sunday, January 31, 2023.

Award amounts: $500 to $4,000. These one-time cash awards are for study beginning in the Fall of 2023. Students may re-apply each year.

Award date: May 31, 2023. During the first week of June 2023 award recipients will be notified by postal mail, and all applicants will be sent email notification.

CWA Joe Beirne Foundation Scholarship Program

Sixteen partial college scholarships of $4,000 each are being offered for the 2023-2024 school year. Winners, selected in a lottery drawing, also will receive second-year scholarships of the same amount contingent upon satisfactory academic accomplishment.  Part-time students, less than 12 credits, will receive half of the scholarship monies.

Eligible for the awards are CWA members and their spouses, children and grandchildren, including those of retired or deceased members.

Applications are accepted during the months of November through April. Final deadline for the 2023-2024 school year is April 30, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
